Financial Institutions, Inc. Completes Acquisition of HNP Capital, LLC

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce exciting changes at HNP Capital! As we have continued to grow, we have sought ways to enhance the services we can provide to our clients. Several months ago, we began speaking to the management team at Five Star Bank. Our conversations centered on how HNP and Five Star might be able to work together to add value to our client relationships. Those conversations eventually evolved, and we are pleased to inform you that we have recently been acquired by Five Star’s holding company, Financial Institutions, Inc.

We believe that this strategic move comes at the right time and with the right partner for our organization, clients and employees. Partnering with Five Star was a natural fit and offers us the infrastructure support we know we will need. In addition, our overall approach to building relationships and serving the community are consistent with that of Five Star. Financial Institutions is a publicly traded financial holding company that provides diversified financial services through its subsidiaries Five Star Bank, Scott Danahy Naylon, and Courier Capital.

Mark Zupan Book Signing and Breakfast Hosted by HNP Capital

HNP Capital will be hosting a book signing and breakfast at the Country Club of Rochester on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the Library room. Mark Zupan, president of Alfred University, will be discussing his recent book:

Inside Job: How Government Insiders Subvert the Public Interest

Zupan Book Picture.jpg

National decline often arises from special interests corrupting a country’s institutions. Such narrow interests include crony capitalists, consumer activists, economic elites, and labor unions. Less attention is given to government insiders — rulers, elected officials, bureaucrats, and public employees. In autocracies and democracies, government insiders have the motive, means, and opportunity to co-opt political power for their benefit and at the expense of national well-being. Many storied empires have succumbed to such inside jobs.

Please join us on Friday January 19 at 9:00 a.m. as the author explains how government insiders use their power to subvert the public interest during this intriguing book forum.

Please let us know if you will be joining us by Wednesday January 10 by phone or email to Edna Teresi at or at 585-461-6085.

'Tis The Season For Giving

As part of our holiday celebration, HNP partnered with Hillside Children’s Foundation as a corporate collection partner for their Special Santa Program. This program benefits youth and families who receive residential, community-based, day treatment and/or customized services throughout New York State and the Greater Washington DC area. Through the collective efforts of HNP staff, family, and clients, we have collected holiday gifts for more than fifty children in need.

HNP Capital hosts national pollster John Zogby at the Genesee Valley Club

On June 14, 2016 HNP Capital was honored to host nationally renowned pollster, author, and public speaker, John Zogby. John, founder of the "Zogby Poll', the "second best known political poll in the US" (according to the Washington Post), has conducted polls and focus groups throughout the world. He discussed topics from his new book," We Are Many, We Are One: Neo-Tribes and Tribal Analytics in the 21st Century", that all in attendance went home with a copy of.  Everyone enjoyed John's insight on the 2016 election and the effect the Millennial generation will have on the political scene. The Q and A portion that followed his presentation was lively with personal stories of his time as Mayor of Utica, New York in 1981 as well as time spent polling the weeks after 9-11.

"John Zogby has done it again. His new book,   We Are Many, We Are One   sheds new light on the way we understand the American public. For anyone who wants to engage or persuade in America, Zogby's book is invaluable. It's an essential road may, with plenty of practical directions to get you there." --Patricia Martin, President , LitLamp Communications
